This note has resulted from the need of BAF members to have a list of recommended lawyers & consultants to handle various issues faced by Apartment Associations.
There are increasing instances of conflicts between pet owners and other residents in apartments. This note has been prepared with a view to help resolve such conflicts & to prevent such instances from recurring in apartments in future.
People living in apartments, no matter how large an apartment complex is, are NOT bulk-consumers. We are the same as individual house owners. All tariffs applicable to apartments should be on par with individual house owners. In addition, club house, swimming pool, STP etc. in apartment complexes are not commercial activities, hence all tariffs (water, power etc.) should only be at residential rates and not at commercial rates.

BAF has made an appeal to the GST Council to exempt services related to installation & maintenance of STPs from GST. The same was exempt from service tax earlier but has not been exempt from GST and hence the appeal. The exemption can provide significant relief to apartments which have STPs and are contributing significantly to the environment.
BAF has created a draft response to the notices that many apartments have received from KSPCB, pursuant to an order passed by the Hon'ble NGT on 18th May 2017. Members can download the same and modify it as per their requirements and send the response accordingly to KSPCB.

BAF Governing Council Members led by their President, Mr. R. Balasubramanian, Vice President, Mr. Muralidhar Rao & General Secretary, Mr. Srikanth Narasimhan, met the BWSSB Chairman Mr. Tushar Girinath on 11th April, 2017, to officially present BAF's objection to the draft STP notification dated 15th March 2017.
